What is going on with fantasy football now-a-days? I have a couple drafts coming up in about a week and I thought I would take at the most effective drafting techniques and study a few cheat-sheets.
Boy, was I in for a surprise.
I guess the two stud RB technique is dead, huh? And it’s all because of the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars and their “insistence” to use a committee backfield approach. There are many other drafting approaches available for the die-hard fantasy football enthusiast. Here is a look at my three favorite:
Two-Stud-RB
It was on life support, but effectively died after the 2007 season as more and more real football teams have now switched to the same thing fantasy football players have been doing for ages: two stud running backs sharing the backfield. The results are great for real teams, devastating for fantasy gurus. Although not recommended by anyone with any brain cells, this strategy is still being used by some people…good luck with that.
Value-Based Drafting
The second easiest way to draft. Ever. You simply print out any of 3,192 million draft cheat-sheets available, take it to the draft, and start crossing out names. When you are on the clock, draft who ever is highest on your list. It’s not hard.
“Opinionized” Drafting
A very popular technique among the lady-fantasy-footballers. The easiest way to draft, bar none. I’ll give you a simple example. Say you are on the clock and the top-ranked player available is Tom Brady. You have a neighbor named Betsy Brady, who called the cops when your shrubbery touched her lawn. By natural instinct you stay far away from Brady as you can, so you draft TJ Houshmandzadeh because you don’t think you know anyone by that name.
Which one will you use on draft day?

My strategy:
Pick my main players early, then use the middle rounds to draft the best defense and other players other people would usually wait on.
