I take great pride in the Olympics. Possibly even borderline xenophobia. I’m sorry, I’m patriotic. And so every morning I wake up and dart to the medal count table in my local newspaper. Instead, you can look here.
The best part? USA 91, China 83.
Yes, the Chinese are dominating with golds and that’s okay. Because anyone who watches the Olympics knows that golds are grand and all, but hey, there are a lot of events and a lot of medals. So China’s go for broke strategy is rewarding, I see one thing and one thing only. Team USA all-around, is still top dog.
Why is that? Because Michael Phelps (and my personal favorite, Jason Lezak) are beasts. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh are amazing. Shawn Johnson is cute (stay away Chris Hansen, I kid) but good. The Redeem Team is back.
And dang it Jenny Finch, I post a picture of you this morning and USA softball loses gold. That’s OK. In the end, with the War in Iraq and On Terror dividing us. With people taking politics too far, with everyone a conserative or liberal or blah blah blah… there is still one thing that can unite us: Olympics.
Stand tall as Americans for the remainder of these Olympics. Why?
Because we still rock! Take that China and the rest of the World!

Did you read my post yesterday? China is whopping us in what should be implied right now: point system.
Who cares that America is “all-around”? That’s bologna. China still has more points.

You jinxed the women’s softball team. I can’t believe they didn’t win gold. I had to check a news article just in case it was a typo.
I still think gold matters though. Yea, we are winning the medals but I want to win the medal point race
