When the Cincinnati Bengals stood firm on Chad Johnson during the offseason, I found it refreshing to see a team refuse to be pushed around by a player. The team chose a stance and stuck with it, leaving Johnson with no choice but to play in Cincy or not play at all.
It seemed like the Bengals might finally be turning a corner as Marvin Lewis cut Chris Henry and made it clear at a luncheon that he would never be associated with Henry again. So with these two stories, I felt it safe to say Lewis had finally learned his lesson that a lack of discipline often leads to a lack of wins.
But my view was shattered as Cincinnati went back to Henry in desperation after injuries to CJ and TJ. With such a hard line stance against CJ who is only guilty of running his mouth, why do the Bengals go so easy on Henry who is guilty of breaking just about everything this side of murder?
So now I once again see the Bengals as a team wandering aimlessly with a lame duck coach who has yet to produce a play-off win. Be principled, Marvin and maybe your team will gain some respect, but for now your the same old Bungles.

I can’t believe Marvin is still the coach there. They have had a lot of talent there that hasn’t amounted to anything. The Owner and GM must have a lot of faith in him.

Honestly, it’s kinda sad. There’s a line this player has crossed, multiple times, but he keeps getting second chances. Sad.

I am glad to read this perspective on the Bengals while the words sadden me. I hope that they can get this organization structured and pointed in the right direction again.

It’s not a good time to be a sports fan from Ohio.
