Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Predictions

I am going to of course end the day with my predictions for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I have already predicted how the Cardinals would preform and I predicted they would score 27 points. Now read my Steelers predictions and find out at the end who will win it!

First off, I think that Ben Rothlisberger will be the key to the Steelers success. I do not think despite his injury that he will throw any interceptions but he will still not be at the top of his game. I see him throwing for 175 yards and 2 Touchdowns while only completing about 45% of his passes.

As for the running game Willie Parker will run for around 80 yards on about 18 carries and a Touchdown but nothing more. He will look very good but the Steelers will have to focus on the pass to win this game against the Cardinals.

Hines Ward will drop no passes but will only have 3 receptions for about 50 yards. He will also receive one of the Touchdowns that Rothlisberger will throw for. The other will be to Heath Miller who will have 2 receptions for 14 yards and like I said one TD.

Sanantonio Holmes will have the best game of any of the receivers. He will have about 70 yards but no Touchdowns. Those 70 yards will be made up of 5 receptions though and he will also have one run for about 7 or so yards.

As for the defense, they will sack Warner 6 times and will deliver the heat all day. They will pick him off once and also force a fumble on a sack. The running game they will be relatively dominate against but won’t force any Touchdowns. The defense will be good and won’t struggle but will have their biggest challenge of the season.

How many points will the Steelers score? 21. You heard it here first folks. The Cardinals will beat the Steelers 27 to 21. But did I mention it will go into over-time? The Cardinals will not score those 6 other points on field goals but will have a Touchdown in over-time. You guys will see…

Arizona Cardinals Super Bowl Predictions

Instead of having all of our Super Bowl predictions in one post, I am going to separate our predictions into two. We will have one for the Cardinals where we predict how they will play and one for the Steelers for how they will play. So here we go with the Arizona Cardinals…

Kurt Warner is going to have a decent game but against the intense Pittsburgh Steelers Defense he will still have two turnovers. He will throw for over 250 yards and will have two touchdowns but will also have an interception and a fumble.

Edgerrin James and Tim Hightower will total to only have over 75 yards but besides that will not reach 100 yards together. James will have a Touchdown but Hightower won’t reach the end-zone. Though Hightower will have around 25 receiving yards off of 4 receptions.

Larry Fitzgerald will catch 8 passes and have 130 or so yards. He will also receive both of Kurt Warner’s touchdown passes and will win the Super Bowl MVP Award.

Anquan Boldin on the other hand will be seriously affected by his injury and only catch 3 passes for 35 yards. Steve Breaston will be a bit better and have 5 receptions for 60 yards. He will dominate in the slot and while mainly will have small passes will have one huge reception.

On defense the Cardinals will have no interceptions but will have about 3 sacks. They will mainly shut down the run but will have a tough time against the pass. We will tell you exactly how the Steelers will perform on our Steelers predictions.

How many points will the Cardinals score though? 27. That’s how many.

Injuries Oh Injuries…

So let’s break down the injuries right now that look to be haunting some players and they are hoping won’t carry over to the Super Bowl. Starting of course with Hines Ward…

The scary word for any NFL fan a game time decision has been used to describe what Hines Ward will be in this Super Bowl. He is listed as questionable and there is a very likely chance he will not play. I doubt that they will leave him out of the mix though.

After ignoring him some time now they have finally put Ben Rothlisberger on the Injury Report. He is listed as probable but he did need x-rays on his rib cage for a reason that has not yet been divulged. The Steelers hope that this does not have the same effect on them Tom Brady’s injury from last year did on the Patriots.

Justin Hartwig, Mewelde Moore, Max Starks, and Lawrence Timmons have also been listed as probable for the Steelers. Linebacker Patrick Bailey is still thought of as questionable though.

As for the Cardinals, there is some good news. Anquan Boldin was not listed on the Injury Report as questionable and is expected fully to return for tomorrows game. J.J Arrington, and Travis Laboy are some highlights as players who are listed as questionable for the game.

Antonio Smith, and punter Ben Graham have also been listed as questionable and I do not expect either Smith or Arrington to play. That is all the injury updates we have for today. Be sure to check back for some more later!

To Start Things Out: Some Super Bowl Ads

Don’t worry people. We are going to get to some of the more hard-core Super Bowl stuff later in the day. But as our Super Bowl Eve Extravaganza continues I thought we might hit the ground running, or laughing with some Super Bowl Ad Previews. Because there is no other occasion where we look forward to commercials.

I will also turn back the clock on some of the greatest Super Bowl ads of all time. So keep it here at Union for the best Super Bowl Preview on the web. By the way, feel free to comment and tell us about your favorite Super Bowl ads! It should be fun…

First off Career Builder.com:

Click here for a Super Bowl Preview

Highlights: The guy hitting a koala. You gotta love that.

Lowlights: “Hey Dummy!”

What I Think (and you should): So far one of the funnier that I have seen. Super Bowl Ads aren’t as good as they used to be but this looks to be a good one.

Next, Audi:

Highlights: Questionable fashion statements…

Lowlights: Once they got out of the 80’s. It lost me.

What I Think (and you should): I enjoyed it but there was nothing that made this anything amazing. It started out strong and just got sort of boring at the end.

Here is the cars.com preview:

Highlights: Gompers and Aristotle, and heart surgery with a ballpoint pin

Lowlights: Most of it.

What I Think (and you should): It was just boring. I didn’t find it funny and while it wasn’t bad it just wasn’t good. Pretty mediocre…

Pedigree, who I believe is a first time Super Bowl advertiser has released a preview of theirs:

Highlights: “Rusty!”

Lowlights: That one ostrich and the old lady

What I Think (and you should): I thought this one was sort of funny. I thought the tagline at the end “Maybe you should get a dog” was pretty entertaining and I also enjoyed the rhino.

So now we are going to take a trip back and look at some of the greatest Super Bowl commercials from the past. Again, please comment and leave us your favorite.

First off maybe the most famous Super Bowl ad of all time is when “Mean” Joe Greene appeared in the ever famous Coke commercial. It is an excellent commercial and really while not especially funny, it is a touching and entertaining ad that sold so many coke ads it is crazy.

Another great Super Bowl ad is “The Showdown” when Michael Johnson and Larry Bird played each other in quite an interesting game of HORSE for McDonalds. It is humorous and it wouldn’t have surprised me if these two Basketball Greats could actually make some of these shots.

The Showdown

And finally, this violent but hilarious commercial for Reebok is my personal all time favorite. Terry Tate: Office Linebacker was a Super Bowl ad that kicked off a whole series of these Reebok Ads that made a big splash in sales for Reebok. The fictional Linebacker surely has become famous after these series.

So what are your favorites? What do you think are the best? Please duke it out in the comments. I look forward to hearing from you and I will be here all day as Union’s Super Bowl Eve Extravaganza continues.

The Best Receiver in Football

Well it’s official…Larry Fitzgerald is the best receiver in the NFL. Fitz has guided the Cardinals to the Super Bowl despite only winning 9 games and losing 4 of 5 to end the regular season. If the 49ers would have punched in that last second touchdown on Monday Night Football earlier in the year at Arizona, the 49ers would have won the NFC West and the Cardinals would not have even made it to the playoffs! Now we are talking about the Cardinals as one of the most unlikely teams in history playing for the Super Bowl. Who can you thank for this…Larry Fitzgerald.

At 6′3 and 220, Larry is taller and stronger than nearly every single Defensive Back in the league. With great hands and jumping ability, he can out leap the competition and the constant double teams to make the circus catch that nobody else can. Right now he is in his prime. NFL Wide Receivers take about three years to learn the position, and now that he is in his fifth year in the league, he is in his absolute prime. There is no other receiver in football that I would rather have today than Larry Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald is a good locker room guy, he doesn’t talk trash or pollute team chemistry like so many others, and I can’t recall the last time I saw him fumble, drop a pass, or muff an easy play. He is like clockwork. Larry is also one of those special athletes that makes two or three “wow” plays every game. A play that makes you jump out of your seat in utter disbelief. He makes the routine catches look easy and the hard catches look routine. He truly is a master of his trade.

Fitz has rejuvenated a 40 year old quarterback that was tossed aside by half the league, and has given new life to an entire city that is practically expects failure every season. Prior to making this Super Bowl, the Arizona Cardinals were the oldest franchise in all of sports that had never even PLAYED in a title game. Read that sentence again. He is reason alone that the MVP voting for the NFL should be delayed until after the playoffs. Larry Fitzgerald; the best receiver in football and the league’s MVP in the eyes of Brandon Schrey.
