Alright, so I am a little late on this one. For those of you that don’t know, SportsCenter has a new feature on the morning show called BlogBuzz. They basicaly rank the top stories of the morning as reported by blogs. They also quote a few blogs as well and give credit to the site which is pretty cool. Here is the video of this mornings buzz:
Oliver Perez Demoted to Bullpen
After doing some quick research I found that the brain child behind BlogBuzz is SportsMediaChallenge and Kathleen Hessert. Sports Media Challenge is the company behind getting Shaq on Twitter as well. They use a propietary algorithm to crawl the web to find the stories most talked about on sports blogs. In this podcast interview Kathleen discusses how the alogorithim works.
SportsMediaChallenge also ranks top blogs based on a combination of their traffic, community, and influence. You can view the list on their front page. They also have a ranking for top blogs by sport. For all you bloggers out there these are a perfect list of sites to send links to if you think you have the inside on a story or something really interesting that you have written about.
