So last night Rotoinfo.com released a rumored steroid list and theropolitans ran with it. They give a hat tip to this blog but lets face it no one is reading Rotoinfo or J Schil’s blog. TheRopolitans is at least getting 20k visitors a month. The interesting thing about this is that normally when something like this comes out every blog is writing about. But nowhere else do I see any major blog writing about this. Personally I believe this is due to the whole MidwestSportsFans fiasco and I don’t think anyone wants to touch it so they don’t get any hate mail. Blogs write about stuff like this all the time and now I wonder if things are going to change because of what happen with the Midwest Sports Fans situation.
The one thing I can’t stand is how Rotoinfo posted this list. This is all they posted before the list “Rumored 2003 Steroid list leaks out? at on June 29, 2009 Rumored steroid list (UNCONFIRMED)”
That’s it. I mean at least give a back story on it. Like a friend of a friend knows someone who used to work for the MLB or something. Did Rotoinfo make this up to get new readers? Maybe? Should TheRopolitans have published the list? Who knows, but they can do whatever they want to as they are beholden to no one. Does this deserver an Outside the Lines Story? No. All it is fans talking about people taking steroids. If some dumb fans want to take this as fact, then that is their problem. For those of you that haven’t seen the list, here you go:

I’m live from the 2009 NBA Draft. I’ll be posting live analysis and thoughts as the draft unfolds today.
4:02 Live look into the T-Wolves war room. Some guy is stuffing his face with macaroni salad. Not a good sign for a team who gave away Kevin Garnett two years ago on draft day.
4:05 Vince Carter is traded to the Magic, and they give up Courtney Lee! Idiots! Lee is just as good and makes 1/100th of the money.
4:07 Possible Amare Stoudemire trade to the Warriors. Just what the Warriors need…a head case who will clash with the head coach AND management at the same time! Fun times all around! Let’s call it Chris Webber part deux.
4:10 Espn is letting us know about the impact of the Shaq trade to the Cavs. Here’s a fact they didn’t mention: Shaq will come into training camp 30 lbs overweight and sporting a Lionel Richie mullet.
4:13 Jay Bilas called Blake Griffin “special.” This will become “special needs” after the Clippers ruin this kid who has the talent to be a Tim Duncan-Amare Stoudemire love child.
4:15 Coming to theaters this fall… “Twins II” starring Blake and Taylor Griffin.

Here is a picture of Kobe Bryant watching the Dodgers/Angles game with his dad. Happy Father’s day to to all the fathers.

On another note thanks to the SF Giants for letting all the fathers and their children run the bases.

I just had a brief online conversation where I talked about how much better some of Bill Simmons’ articles might be if he didn’t work for ESPN. And if you don’t know who Bill Simmons is, here is a link to his stuff. He is an amazing writer that really hits home with the average sports fan. He always seems to have some type of ongoing feud with ESPN on what he can and can’t write.
In 2006 ESPN extended Simmons’ contract to 2010 so I am not sure which negotiations will be more important. Bill Simmons and ESPN or Lebron James and the Cavs/Knicks. As a part of his extension Bill was going to contribute more on the TV end of things through ESPN Original Entertainment. ESPN Original Entertainment is now gone along with ESPN Hollywood which Bill was a part of. He has done some TV stuff but I would guess he hasn’t been able to get any projects he has truly liked off the ground.
Many people have pondered what it would take to lure him away but I decided to come up with a list of things that would get him to leave.
- High 6 figures (I have no idea how much he makes. Maybe it needs to be 7 figures)
- Free rein (Simmons can write about whatever he wants)
- Ability to work behind the scenes in Television
- A hot assistant
- Give all his friends and cousins jobs
- No column deadlines (Bill writes a column when he wants to write)
- The company hiring him would not have a conflict of interest with sports leagues therefore Bill can say whatever he wants about all sports leagues

Peter King wrote an article last week called Tom Brady is Back. In the article this quote really caught my eye:
“People say, ‘What will you do if you don’t play football?’ Why would I even think of doing anything else? What would I do instead of run out in front of 80,000 people and command 52 guys and be around guys I consider brothers and be one of the real gladiators? Why would I ever want to do anything else? It’s so hard to think of anything that would match what I do: Fly to the moon? Jump out of planes? Bungee-jump off cliffs? None of that s— matters to me. I want to play this game I love, be with my wife and son, and enjoy life.”
Gladiator? Command 52 guys? Wow. I didn’t realize how full of himself he really is. A quaterback in the NFL is no gladiator and he sure as hell doesn’t command 52 guys. He definitely commands the offense but not the defense or special teams. Does he really think the guys on special teams think of him as their leader? Does he really think they go out and put their bodies on the line for him? No way.
Maybe the personality Tom Brady has is what it takes to be successful in the NFL but man his ego is sure big.
